Police can stop a driver for that alone, and a citation can support a distracted-driving negligence claim. We see this a lot at the busy lights along Stephanie Street and Sunset Road, where a glance at a screen turns a green light into a rear-end. A citation does not automatically prove fault, but paired with the crash report, witness accounts, and any phone records, it builds a strong picture for a Clark County jury. No, and it catches people off guard. In Nevada, the deadline to sue for damage to personal property such as your vehicle is three years, which is longer than the two-year deadline that applies to injuries from the same crash under NRS 11.190. So one collision can create two separate clocks. Do not let the longer property clock lull you, because the shorter injury deadline is the one that usually decides your case.
